Privacy Policy for ShrinkStack

Your privacy is critically important to us. At ShrinkStack, we have a few fundamental principles:

  • We are thoughtful about the personal information we ask you to provide and the personal information that we collect about you through the operation of our services.
  • We store personal information for only as long as we have a reason to keep it.
  • We aim for full transparency on how we gather, use, and share your personal information.

This Privacy Policy applies to the ShrinkStack web application (the “Service”).

The Core Principle: Your Data is Your Own

The primary function of ShrinkStack is to process your images. All image processing happens entirely within your web browser on your own device. The images you select from your computer are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party server. We do not see, store, or have access to your images at any time.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • Your images or any content derived from them.
  • Any personal identifying information beyond what you voluntarily provide in the feedback form.

Information We Collect

We only collect information in two specific ways:

  • Anonymous Feedback: If you choose to submit feedback through our Feedback Page, we collect the message type, the message text you provide, and your browser's user agent string. This is stored in Firebase Firestore and is used solely to improve our Service. This information is anonymous unless you voluntarily include identifying details in your message.
  • Website Analytics: Like most website operators, we use Google Analytics to collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how our visitors use the Service.

Third-Party Services

  • Firebase (Google): Used for hosting the application and for storing anonymous feedback messages.
  • Google Analytics: Used for tracking website traffic and usage statistics.
  • Google AdSense: Used to display advertisements on the site. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Ads Settings.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser Local Storage for essential site functionality. Specifically, we store:

  • Your theme preference (light/dark/system).
  • A flag to know if you've dismissed the initial privacy notice so we don't show it to you again.

We do not use cookies for tracking purposes beyond what is used by the third-party services (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) mentioned above.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

Although most changes are likely to be minor, we may change our Privacy Policy from time to time, and at our sole discretion. We encourage visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
